Molly's Crowning Achievement
Molly and I met via Facebook in April 2019 when she was tagged in a model call I put out to this page. Her look was the perfect fit for what I was needing for this specific shoot. Remember the "Burning House" shoot? That was her! That day, I gained an amazing lifelong friend.
Molly is one of the strongest women I know, undergoing a double mastectomy at the age of 19, she was also the youngest mastectomy patient in Mississippi. Molly has achieved many accomplishments in her life including starting a non-profit organization and writing her own book, but Molly says her crowning achievement was beating breast cancer. We took these photos to celebrate that achievement and I am so honored she asked ME to capture these!
From Molly:
"I was never strong enough to have photos of my breasts taken. I felt ugly, different, and incomplete. I hated bra shopping and swimsuit shopping. I noticed the cut of dresses underneath my arms. I hated the idea of being topless in front of anyone. But not having photographs of my breasts from “before” and “after” is my biggest regret- a regret I’ve carried with me as a reminder to always be stronger. Over the years, I’ve seen women brave enough to be photographed and yearned to be brave, too, but I never felt comfortable enough. But then I met Samantha and she helped me love myself enough to finally be vulnerable in front of her camera. Thank you Sam, for being so gentle and patient with me, thank you for pouring your heart into something that means so much to me, and thank you for being such a sweet friend. It took me 5 1/2 years to have these photos taken, but I sure am glad I did."
What I love about being a boudoir photographer is that I am constantly shown boudoir is for everyone. No matter the stage of life that you're in, what you've been through or what you have accomplished. You deserve to feel good and feel strong. I love being able to everyday show women just how wonderful they are, as they are.
